Liz Gonzalez brings you the latest news and headlines every morning on "Great Day".
She is a total Central Valley girl! She was raised in Sanger and graduated from CSU, Fresno with a degree in Mass Communication and Journalism. She was named the department's "Outstanding Broadcast Graduate".
She started her broadcasting career while in college. She reported at KFTV-21, Fresno's Univision affiliate. She also completed a research internship at ABC News, working on "World News Tonight with Peter Jennings." She was also selected to anchor the National Association of Hispanic Journalists' student newscast.
This California girl eventually made the move to the "Sun City". She spent nearly two years at KVIA in El Paso, covering military, immigration and education issues. Liz returned to the Central Valley in 2003. She worked for three years at KSEE, covering the South Valley. Liz kept viewers gripped to the screen the night a gunman took workers hostage at the Exeter Bank of America in January of 2006. She was honored by the Radio Television News Directors Association for "Best Breaking News Coverage".
Liz is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, and spends her free time talking to students about following their dreams. Liz also likes to attend concerts and local sports events, scrapbook, karaoke, and check out sushi joints! John Mayer, Ryan Adams, Jason Mraz and Alejandro Sanz are the tops in her book! She bleeds Dodger Blue.
