Great Day Gets Cookin' With Chef Mike Carey - KMPH FOX 26 | Central San Joaquin Valley News Source

 To help the crew kick off the launch of the Great Day Kitchen, Chef Mike Carey was live on the show with fabulous summer salad recipes. Carey is a chef for "Vineland: Food, Wine and Laughter."

Carey prepared two different versions of a caprese salad, the traditional version, and his own special take on the salad.

  Here's a look at the recipe's Carey made on the show:

  Traditional Caprese Salad:

• Equal parts fresh mozzarella cheese and tomatoes
• 1/4-1/2 cup freshly chopped basil
•  Salt and pepper to taste

Mike Carey's Caprese Salad:

• 1/4 cup sundried tomatoes
•  1/4 cup oil and cured black olives
•  Splash red wine or balsamic vinegar
•  2 splashes of extra virgin olive oil
