UPDATE: Police Say Sexual Assault Story Is False

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE:

After conducting an investigation of the case, Fresno detectives have determined there was no crime committed.

Detectives re-interviewed the victim and found significant inconsistencies in her story and determined there was no burglary or attempted sexual assault.

Fresno police need your help to find a man who they say broke into a home and attacked a woman.

This happened Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at a home on Ezie and Shields near Fowler Avenue.

Officers say the woman had just gotten home when she was confronted by a man inside her house.

The woman says he grabbed her, put a piece of clothing in her mouth, and then started to take off her clothes.

The woman grabbed her phone and that's when she says he started to attack her, cutting her face and body.

She was able to fight off the man and run to a neighbor's house to call 911.

The man ran away.

He's described as a white or Hispanic man 24 to 29-years-old, 230 pounds with short hair.

He was wearing a white tee shirt, black gloves, and a red bandana.

He has tattoos on both arms and a tear drop tattoo below his right eye.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (559) 498–STOP.
