Updated:
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KMPH) -

Derek Carr, the record breaking Fresno State quarterback, was not picked in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Carr had a good chance to go to the Vikings with the final pick in the first round but they chose Teddy Bridgewater from Louisville.

Carr watched the first round picks with family in Bakersfield and then he and brother, David. spoke to the media afterwards. “I would like to have gone higher, but I’ve been through so much in my life that I’m not going to let something like football bring me down,” said Derek.

Derek and David both spoke about their faith in God and their belief that He has a plan for them.

The draft resumes Friday afternoon with the first pick going to the Houston Texans, the team that drafter David as the first pick out of Fresno State.

There is a chance the Texans could draft Derek, the highest rated QB left in the draft.
