Baby Stabbed To Death By Mother, Say Police

Posted:
A Bay Area mother is in jail right now, accused of stabbing her baby boy to death.

Officers don't know what prompted the attack, but say the child's mother, 23-year-old Ashley Newton, had a history of depression.

Officers say she had been ramming her car into a rock wall Sunday, at a park in Livermore.

They believe she then ditched the car, walked into the park and stabbed the baby.

They found her walking with the child in her arms.

Paramedics tried to help the baby, but say the boy had already died.

Officers recovered a knife they think was used in the attack.

They think she hurt herself with the knife, too.

Newton is being held without bond and will be in court Tuesday.
