Woman Survives Shooting, Husband Commits Suicide

A Fresno woman is in critical condition right now after police say her estranged husband shot her and then himself.

The incident took place on 6100 Block of Benedict and Escalon.

Pamela Shean Motley was staying at the Northwest Fresno home with her mother.

Police were called to the house just before 11 p.m. on Saturday night.

One of the neighbors, who lives two doors down, says he is the one who called police.

He declined an on-camera interview but told KMPH Fox 26 news that he heard a gunshot, ran outside and saw the man shoot his wife and then himself.

Investigators confirm that Pamela Motley was estranged from her husband since January and had filed for divorce.

According to court documents, Motley filed a restraining order again her husband, 57-year-old Paul Wayne Motley.

Police documents show also show that Paul Motley was arrested earlier this year on charges of domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon.

According to police, Pamela Motley suffered a single gunshot wound and is in critical condition.

She is being treated at Community Regional Medical Center.
