Caught On Camera: Crook Drains Family's Bank Account

Posted:
HANFORD, Calif. (KMPH) -

A Hanford couple can't pay its rent or any of its bills, after they say a man drained its bank account.

Police say the guy accused of taking all their money was "Caught on Camera" at several stores around the Valley using the couple's stolen money card.

"It really was all of our money," says Angelica Silvestre, who had all her money stolen, "We don't have another bank and we don't have anyone to borrow from."

Angelica and Luis Silvestre say the money was stolen on March 19th. Ironically, it was the exact same day they got paid.

"I told my wife and my kids this is material but it still hurts when something like this happens to you," says Luis Silvestre, "It's just not a good feeling."

The Silvestre's say they don't know how the bad guy got a hold of the card number because they haven't had anything stolen and they haven't been hacked.

Investigators say the guy caught on camera bought several gift cards. A copy of the Silvestre's card statement shows transactions at Walgreens and CVS stores in Selma, Fresno, and Reedley. All of the purchases are between $100 and $400.

"I just want him to pay for he did and I just pray that he doesn't do it to somebody else," adds Angelica Silvestre, "Especially to someone less fortunate than us."

The Silvestre's are waiting to see if the card company will refund their money.

If you have any information about this case or know who the guy in the picture is you're asked to call the Reedley Police Department at 559-637–4250.
