Obamacare Deadline Passes: What's Next?

The Obamacare deadline has come and gone.

The president is close to his goal of 7 million sign ups.

But a high volume of users caused a delay on the Covered California website.

So, people got to sign up, but they have to go back and finish the application process.

Here's what you need to know about sign ups.

If you applied online before the midnight deadline, you now have until April 15th to finish up.

If you missed the deadline, you will pay a tax penalty of $95s, or 1% of your annual income above the tax-filing threshold of $10,150, whichever is higher.

That penalty will go up in the future.

The next enrollment period starts November 15 for coverage starting in 2015.

If you still need to get insurance, Medi-Cal enrollment for those who qualify, is open throughout the year.
