Selfies - Business Boon For Cosmetic Surgeons

Posted:

Plastic surgeons have the selfie craze to thank for their booming business.

According to the results from a recent study of the American Academy of Facial, Plastic and Reconstructive surgery, one in three plastic surgeons have people asking for a little nip, tuck or filler "due to patients being more self–aware of looks in social media."

The study found a 10% jump in nose jobs between 2012-2013, a 7% increase in hair transplants, and a 6% rise in eyelid surgery.

58% of the plastic surgeons questioned in the study said they saw an increase in cosmetic surgery or injectables in people aged 30 or below.

Last year the same study pointed to video–chat software as the reason for more people wanting cosmetic adjustments.
