Valley Drought 2014: New Reservoirs Needed for Growing CA Population

Two California congressmen are trying to get a new reservoir built.

They want to store water north of Sacramento.

Democratic congressman John Garamendi, and republican congressman Doug LaMalfa announced a new bill.

It calls for a study on the costs of building a reservoir.

They want to put it in Maxwell, which is an hour north of Sacramento.

Lawmakers say it'll cost between $2 and 3 billion.

Garamendi and LaMalfa say more water storage projects are needed to accommodate the state's growing population.

There are 38 million people here now.
