A New Miss Fresno County Has Been Crowned

FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

There's a new Miss Fresno County.

Denise Barnes, 21, a student at Fresno State, was crowned Saturday night during the pageant held at the Tower Theatre.

As the winner, Barnes received $4,000 in scholarship money and could go on to compete in the Miss California pageant later this year.

The winner of that pageant, will head to Miss America.

Elise Barco, 16, a student at University High School, also went home a winner. She was crowned Fresno's Most Outstanding Teen and also received scholarship money.

Great Day's very own Clayton Clark introduced all sixteen talented young women at the event.


Here is a complete list of girls who received awards:

"People's Choice Award" $100- Teen contestant winner is Elise Barco, 16, University High School. Miss Fresno Contestant winner is Brittany Banks, 23, Willow International.

"Facebook Favorite Award" $100- Teen contestant winner is Elise Barco, 16, University High School.  Miss Fresno contestant winner is Kaelyn McInnerney, 22, Willow International.

"Miss Congeniality Award" $100- Teen contestant winner is Jasmine Nelson, 15, Central High School West.  Miss contestant winner Kaelyn McInnerney, 22, Willow International.

"Most Ad Sales Award" $200 - Teen contestant is Brendee Calvert, 16, Edison High School. Miss Fresno contestant winner is Alyssa Valdez, 23, Fresno City College.

"Most Ticket Sales Award" $200- Teen contestant winner is Elise Barco, 16, University High School.  Miss Fresno Contestant winner is Dominique Papaleo, 18, Fresno State University.

"Les Theurich Memorial Miss Spirit Award" $100- Teen contestant winner is Brendee Calvert, 16, Edison High School. Miss Fresno Contestant winner is Kaelyn McInnerney.
