Pmburg, South Africa – March 14, 2014 /MarketersMedia/ —

Parental involvement in the form of at home interest and support has a major influence on pupils educational outcomes and attitudes. Many parents, however, feel uninformed about current educational practices and how they can be more involved with their child’s learning. A number of initiatives have been implemented internationally to encourage home school links, but the documentation of these initiatives, particularly in the area of mathematics education is limited.

Let’s face it, math can be fun but not all kids think it is. Kids are used to being entertained and expect everything that parents want them to do, to be just as entertaining as their favorite pastimes. What worked in the past, doesn’t necessarily work today. Many kids don’t want to learn math or practice math, they’d rather be watching DVD’s or playing with computer games. It is also important to acknowledge the tension that exists between how mathematics is
taught today compared with how it was learned by parents. Many parents tend to value their own forms of doing mathematics over school mathematics, while many
children value schools form of knowledge over the parents knowledge, hence demonstrating the potential tensions that may arise when engaging in mathematical tasks and assignments at home.

Early Online Concepts focuses more on developing kids own mathematical knowledge and understandings, along with engaging parents in continuous mathematical involvement as their children progressed through their schooling. As such,it is particularly applicable to practitioners who may be looking to initiate similar projects into their own educational context.

Imagine being able to get kids so engaged with math that they don’t even want to stop even when asked to do so. Or what if one could have an endless stream of different ways to motivate kids so they learn the basics of math. The satisfaction that one would get from seeing kids math skills soar and their grades in math going up and up will make one proud.

Finding quality kids math games isn’t easy. Early Online Concepts has teamed up with Teresa Evans, a parent and teacher to create Printable Math Board Games, Math Card Games, Math Print and Play Games Sheets and load and loads of Math Games Ideas including math fact games for kids and hands on math games. “Kids Math Games can sometimes feel like math drills, but this collection of Printable Math Games is NOT a collection of the same old tired games that one might find free on a website somewhere” says Teresa. In fact, Making Math More Fun – Printable Math Games Package is based on years of hands on work in the classroom with kids of all ages and abilities.
