NASA Helps With California Water Crisis

The California drought is now getting some help from outer space...

NASA, that is...

A new partnership has been formed between NASA and state water officials.

Scientists are deploying satellites to help better assess and manage the drought.

Satellites can get a better look at the snowpack, or lack thereof.

A photo comparison from NASA shows what it looked like in January 2013 versus a year later.

NASA scientists say satellite images will also help measure the number of fallowed fields.

They can also see where land is sinking because of excessive water pumping.
