Two skiers have died in two separate accidents at Lake Tahoe.

The respective ski resorts now say neither skier was wearing a helmet.

The first skier, an 18-year-old employee at the Sugar Bowl Ski Resort, died when he hit a tree while skiing on his day off.

The other skier, 43-year-old man from the Bay Area, died when he hit a tree at Northstar Ski Resort.

The Place County Sheriff's Department says if the skiers may have survived if they were wearing helmets.
