California Senator Wants $13 Minimum Wage

Posted:

If you're making minimum wage at work, you'll be getting $9 an hour this year.

But what if minimum wage was $13 an hour?

That's what Senator Mark Leno wants to see happen.

Leno is pushing a bill that would get minimum wage to $13 an hour by 2017.

Minimum wage would then fluctuate with inflation in the following years.

Business owners argue the raise would drive up costs.

But Leno says it creates greater stability in the workforce.

Governor Brown recently signed a bill that will get minimum wage to $10 an hour by 2016.
