Size Matters When It Comes To Car Safety

A new study shows some small cars may not be that safe.

Of the eleven small cars included in a recent crash test, only one did reasonably well.

The test had these small cars hitting wall at 40– mph with just one–quarter of its front bumper.

The Insurance Institute For Highway Safety rated the Chevy Spark as "Acceptable."

These six cars basically failed:

Nissan Versa

Toyota Prius – C

Hyundai Accent

Mitsubishi Mirage

Fiat 500

Honda Fit

Here are the cars that ranked marginal:

Kia Rio

Mazda–Two

Toyota Yaris

Ford Fiesta

Some automakers whose cars faired poorly pointed out their cars were designed before this particular crash test and they expect future designs to perform much better
