The Fresno County Coroner is now reporting that 21-year-old Joshua Lewis died as a result of a car crash and not shots fired at him.
Fresno Police say Lewis went on a deadly carjacking and shooting spree Thursday evening along West Shaw Avenue.
The shooting killed 65–year old Nhia Lee of Fresno. His wife was shot in the arm, but officers say she's going to be okay.
Two others were also hurt.
Police have credited an off-duty Correctional Officer for stopping the spree.
He pulled out his own gun and confronted Lewis.
He later shot Lewis in the back.
Lewis crashed the car eight miles away in a ditch at Gettysburg and Jameson Avenue.
Lewis later died.
