DNA Damaged By Drinking Alcohol

A new study finds drinking alcohol could damage your DNA.

Researchers at The University of Nayarit, Mexico followed two groups of healthy adults between 18 to 23 years old.

One group was told to drink about six drinks each weekend.

The other group went booze–free.

Scientists found the drinkers had twice as much cell damage compared to the non–drinkers.

A second test found 44–percent of the drinkers had DNA damage...compared to only eight percent of the non–drinkers.

Scientists say it's not clear exactly how alcohol affects DNA.
