Tulare County Sheriff's Deputy Killed

A Tulare County Sheriff's deputy lost his life early Tuesday morning while on duty.

Deputy Jeremy Meyst from Visalia was transporting inmates when the van he was driving, crashed on Road 204 just south of Highway 198 near the Friant Kern Canal Bridge around 2:30 a.m. this morning.

Two inmates were in the van and were hurt in the crash, but are said to be okay.

Deputy Meyst is a 2001 graduate of Mount Whitney High School, and has been with the Tulare Sheriff's Department since 2004.

He is survived by his wife and children.

The CHP is investigating to find out what caused this van to crash.
