Break-In at School Cafeteria Lands Four Men in Jail

Posted: Updated:

Some repairs will have to be made at Caruthers Elementary School after Fresno County Sheriff's detectives say four men broke into the school cafeteria.

It happened Sunday, just before 4:00 a.m.

Someone tripped the silent alarm, and deputies surrounded the campus.

They found four men coming out of the cafeteria holding insulated duffle bags, full of food.

Deputies arrested Edward Victor Pena, 22 from Goshen;

Christopher Pablo Ramirez, 21 from Selma, Jacob Garza, 18

from Kingsburg, and Abel Noe Gonzalez, 18 from Kingsburg.

The men will likely face charges of commercial burglary.

Deputies say they don't know why the break-in happened.

"You know it's not common for people to break into cafeterias to steal food... but it is what it is," says Sgt. Ryan Gilbert, with the Fresno County Sheriff's Department.

The investigation continues.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Michael King at (559) 896-2003 or Fresno Sheriff's Dispatch at (559) 600-3111.
