Why Don't Some Restaurants List Calorie Counts?

The law changed because of the Affordable Care Act or "ObamaCare".

Part of ObamaCare is for the FDA to require restaurants to list nutritional information on their menus.

But, that law was passed six years ago and the rules haven't been finalized yet.

So not long ago, Governor Jerry Brown quietly got rid of California's law, Even though people liked it.

KMPH contacted the FDA about when the new rules listing calorie information would be released and were referred to its website that says it will happen soon... but there was no exact date listed.

It does look like the federal law will be similar to California's old law.

When the law does go into effect, it will only apply to restaurants with 20 or more locations.
