FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KMPH) -

A 125-mile run, across three counties, four Valley runners rose to the challenge for a good cause.

They ran through Fresno's Woodward Park like heroes.

David Thull and three of his running mates embarked on a 128-mile run from Bakersfield to Fresno.

It's a journey that started nearly 30-hours ago.

A journey fueled by the motivation to help kids in need.

"We looked at the Ronald McDonald Houses and there is one in Bakersfield and one here in Madera for the central valley. Its was about a 128-ish miles away and that seemed reasonable so I called a few of my friends who I kind of wanted to spend the day with, and they all agreed so we ran from Bakersfield to Fresno today," said Thull.

As they took to the pavement, hundreds took notice.

The group raised more than $5,000 from supporter donations.

"Every dollar we raised goes back to the Ronald McDonald House for Bakersfield and the Central valley," added Thull.

The Ronald McDonald House serves as a home away from home for families with sick children.

It's an organization that can use every helping dollar.

"These kids are fighting for their lives and I just have to suffer for about 30-hours. They have a lifetime of suffering that they have to go through so it was all worth it," said Rudy Montoya, a member of the running group.

For these runners, it's a road that doesn't end.

They say they will keep running, and keep doing all they can to help.

"Its one of those things that won't hit for a few days, it's a little over whelming but it's just nice to something for someone else," said Thull.

The runners finished at Children's Hospital Central California.

They were greeted by proud friends and family.

At the end of the day they raised a total of $5,300 dollars.
