Posted:
SANGER, Calif. (KMPH) -

Fresno County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a man who they say went on a rampage with an ax and set a business on fire Tuesday morning near Sanger.

Deputies were called to the area of Shaw and Academy after 6:00 a.m., following reports of a bloodied man with an ax, walking in the road.

They arrived and found the corner Johnny Quick shop on fire, and the man nearby.

Deputies tried to tase the man, but say he fought back.

At one point, they say he tried to take the Taser from them.

They were eventually able to arrest the man, who they say lives nearby.

Deputies believe he got into a fight with family members before leaving for the intersection.

They say he then broke windows on several businesses in a shopping center before going inside the convenience store.

The clerk was inside, but ran out.

She told deputies the man started to tear through the store, then set the fire.

The man is now at the Fresno County Jail.
