Sun Explodes Again, But Bigger This Time!

The Solar System -

As if awakening from a slumber, our sun is heating up!

After an unusually quiet past year the sun is now crackling with active sunspots and shooting off one solar flare after the other.  The sun has popped off with at least three X-class solar flares--the most powerful kind-- in just the last three days, the website "Spaceweather.com" reports.

Sunspot 1875 (see photo) popped off with one last X2-class flare just before rotating off to the other side of the sun October 29th.

NASA Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the explosion's extreme ultraviolet flash:

But, even with sunspot 1875 now turning away from earth, other active sunspots remain.  National Oceanic And Atmospheric Administration forecasters estimate a 60% chance of M-class flares and a 25% chance of X-flares on Wednesday, Oct. 30th.
