NEW YORK, Oct. 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Stewart Rahr, the charismatic philanthropist billionaire donated $2.2 Million Dollars to the Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis last night in New York City at The Waldorf Astoria. Mr. Rahr's total donations to the organization now exceed $5 million. Stewart Rahr is ranked as the 327th richest American by Forbes Magazine with a net worth estimated at $1.7 Billion Dollars.
Longtime sportscaster Bob Costas served as Master of Ceremonies. Additional attendees for the event, the "2013 Great Sports Legends" dinner included NFL Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw, NBA Star James Worthy, Dave Winfield, the retired New York Yankee legend, and other superstar athletes.
In 1985, Barth A. Green, M.D. and NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Nick Buoniconti helped found The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis after Nick's son, Marc, sustained a spinal cord injury during a college football game. Today, The Miami Project is the world's most comprehensive spinal cord injury research center and is located in the Lois Pope LIFE Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
