Suspect Shot And Killed By Fresno Security Guard

Police are investigating a deadly shooting by a security guard in Southeast Fresno.

The shooting happened on East Annadale Avenue around 8:00 p.m. Monday night.

Police say the 26-year-old security guard allowed the suspect, 37-year-old Morris Linder, to borrow his cell phone.

Linder then reportedly threw the cell phone and attacked the guard.

Fearing for his life, the guard fired his weapon.

Police performed CPR on Linder who died at the scene.

The security guard was taken to Community Regional Medical Center where he was treated for a broken arm.

The investigation is on-going but officers don't believe the security guard, who is licensed to carry a firearm, will be charged in the shooting.
