Jerry Tarkanian Inducted Into Hall Of Fame

A Valley legend is now in the basketball Hall of Fame.

Jerry Tarkanian, also known as "Tark the Shark," was inducted on Sunday into the Naismith basketball Hall of Fame.

The 83-year-old had heart surgery less than two months ago but was able to attend the ceremony.

Tark won 790 games as a college coach, and is considered an innovator of the game.

Tarkanian played basketball for Fresno State and was a coach at San Joaquin Memorial and Fresno State.

Coach led three different universities to 20-win seasons and won the NCAA National Championship with UNLV in 1990.

Danny Tarkanian, Jerry's son, tweeted a photo on Sunday from the ceremony of coach with former assistant coach, John Welch; current athletic director, Thomas Boeh; women's basketball coach, Raegan Pebley; men's basketball coach, Rodney Terry; and former Bulldog guard, Chris Herren.
