Funeral Services Under Way For Wife Of General Vang Pao

FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

A traditional Hmong funeral service is under way to honor the life of May Song Vang, the wife of the late General Vang Pao.

In keeping with Hmong tradition, the funeral service will last 4 days and is taking place in the commerce building at the Fresno Fairgrounds.

The funeral procession took place Friday morning, followed by a ceremony that included a greeting from Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin and eulogies from Congressman Jim Costa, Fresno City Council President Blong Xiong, Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer and other honored dignitaries.

Vang is survived by three sons and seven grandchildren.

May Song Vang passed away Monday at her home in Orange County at the age of 62.
