Prolific Central Valley Auto Thief Caught In The Act

Posted:
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

A car thief with a long track record was arrested Thursday, a week after being released from the Fresno County Jail due to overcrowding.

Cipriano Saldana was caught Thursday with his pants down as he was trying to change to hide from them, police said.

Investigators say they followed Saldana in a stolen truck back to this hotel at Blackstone and Ashlan avenues after spotting him there earlier.

He got out and ran inside, police say, but officers went in, found and arrested him.

Police also arrested another man at the hotel who was spotted driving in a stolen car.

Police chased Saldana in a stolen Honda last week, but he got away.

Saldana is also wanted on a number of charges in Oregon.
