Man Fatally Stabbed: Police Search For Suspect

PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KMPH) -

Porterville police are searching for a parolee who they suspect fatally stabbed a man Sunday night.

Police say there was party at an apartment along Main Street and Mill Avenue.

Carlos Espinoza, 28, attended the party but later began to argue with other partygoers before being asked to leave.

Witnesses told police that Espinoza returned and began stabbing people.

Two people were injured in addition to 37-year-old Estaban "Steve" Mendoza who was fatally wounded.

Espinoza was paroled in February after serving 12 years in custody for a similar case out of Lindsay in 2001.

He is 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds and has short hair and a mustache. Police also say he has "Lindsay" tattooed across his chest.

He should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Porterville Police Department at 559-782-7400.
