Special Delivery: Cards Pour In For Ailing Central Valley Girl

Cards, letters, drawings, balloons and gifts cover every inch of 7-year-old Emma's hospital room.

Hundreds, perhaps even thousands, have poured in for the Central Valley girl over the last few weeks.

The gifts and cards started coming in when Emma, who suffers from Cystic Fibrosis, checked into Children's Hospital for the 12th time for another surgery. 

But this check in fell on her birthday. 

Devastated, Emma told her mother, Lisa Ritter, that she had just one wish -- to received "100 cards."

Emma said she wanted the cards to decorate her hospital room, to feel special.

"I thought a hundreds cards? That's silly sis, how about 10 or 20? So, I said I'll put it out to our friends and family, I knew they would make that happen for her," Ritter said.

Not wanting to break her little girl's heart, Ritter took to Facebook to spread the word.

Suddenly, it wasn't just friends and family taking notice, but hundreds of strangers, all touched by Emma's story.

"We heard from people in Thailand, in Korea, we just got word that there are soldiers in Afghanistan that are sending her messages. I can't even put into words how unbelievable this is," Ritter said.

While Emma will still have to blow out the candles on her birthday cake in the hospital, her wish has already come true.

When asked how the cards make her feel, Emma simply replied, "I'm loved."
