Fresno Fugitive Captured In Mexico

After having evaded police for more than a year, law enforcement officials in Mexico have arrested a Fresno man tied to a 2012 murder.

The Fresno Police Department on Thursday said that 31-year-old Robert Alexander Cadena was captured in Rosarito, Mexico on Wednesday after more than a year on the run.

Police say Cadena and 38-year-old Alfred Jose Hernandez shot a 25-year-old Selma man outside of a Fresno-area bar on May 19, 2012. The man was transported to Community Regional Medical Center but later died from his injuries.

Hernandez was arrested the day after the shooting. An arrest warrant was issued for Cadena on May 22, but he fled.

Cadena is currently being held in a San Diego County Jail and will be returned to Fresno this weekend, police said.
