Clovis Apartment Fire Leaves Eight People Without A Home

CLOVIS, Calif. (KMPH) -

Clovis firefighters are mopping up an apartment fire that has left eight families without a home, and one person with second-degree burns.

The fire started before 1:30 a.m. in the area of Minnewawa and Barstow avenues.

Firefighters spotted heavy flames coming from two apartments. The fire then quickly spread to four other units through a shared attic space.

Crews from Fresno were called to help battle the intense flames.

One firefighter was hurt, but was treated at the scene.

Damage is estimated at $1 million.

The cause remains under investigation.

The apartment management and the Red Cross are helping the families find a place to stay.
