Foothill Wildfire: Evacuation Orders Remain For Mariposa County Towns

Mariposa County Sheriff Doug Binnewies has issued new evacuation orders because of the Carstens Fire.

At 11:30 p.m. on June 16, the sheriff put mandatory evacuation orders in place for the north east side of Triangle Road from Highway 140 to East Westerfall Road. About 1:30 a.m. on Monday, June 17, a CODE RED message went out to residents of the Lushmeadows subdivision. Residents there are being advised to be prepared to evacuate.

An evacuation center has been established at Mariposa Elementary School. Livestock and animals are being cared for at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds.

As of 12:40 a.m., the following road closures were in place:

-- Jerseydale Rd at Triangle Rd CLOSED due to fire evacuations

-- Carter Rd at Triangle Rd CLOSED due to fire evacuations

-- Buckingham Mtn Rd CLOSED due to fire evacuations

-- Carstens Rd at 140 Hwy CLOSED due to fire
