Fresno Man Kidnaps Girlfriend, Leads Deputies On Chase

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KMPH) -

A man armed with several knives on Monday lead deputies on a foot chase through west Fresno.

Josh Service, 19, was wanted for kidnapping his girlfriend and holding her hostage inside of an RV.

Service and his girlfriend got into an argument and he tied her up and held her against her will inside the RV at around 1 p.m.

Then after several hours, she regained his trust and they went to the park to go sell puppies. It was at the park that deputies say she was able to call 911.

When deputies arrived, Service took off running.

Deputies say Service jumped several fences before he was caught in Wilma Hill's backyard -- but not before attacking a deputy, leaving him with small cuts on his arms.

"I'm used to kids over the fence all the time because of the soccer balls, but when I saw the sheriff I said, 'who is in the backyard?'" Hill said.

Family members of the woman held hostage say the couple has a problem with meth.

Neighbors say they have witnessed violent attacks by Service in the past.

Service faces several felony charges, including kidnapping, attempted murder and battery on a peace officer.
