Father Arrested In Lemoore Infant's Death

LEMOORE, Calif. (KMPH) -

The father of an 11-month-old girl who the Kings County Coroner's Office said died of massive brain swelling on Monday has been arrested, the Kings County Sheri's Department said.

The infant, whose name was not release, was taken to the emergency room at the Base hospital at Lemoore Naval Air Station around 6:30 a.m. on Monday by her parents -- the mother is active duty in the navy and the father is a civilian.

The infant was unresponsive and could not be revived after several attempts by medical staff, according to a sheriff's report.

The report said the death appeared to be a result of Sudden Infant Death syndrome. An investigation into the death by the Kings County Coroners Office, however, revealed that the infant had a broken arm as well as a skull fracture that resulted in massive swelling of her brain.

After a two day investigation, the father, Troy Bailey Jr., was arrested and booked into the Kings County Jail for homicide and child abuse causing death
