Police Shooting In Visalia: Investigation Underway

VISALIA, Calif. (KMPH) -

Police are releasing more information this afternoon regarding the shooting death of a 25-year-old man in Visalia over the weekend. 

Xavier Barba was fatally shot on Saturday in a Visalia neighborhood.

Officers arrived in the area of Cherry Avenue and Bollinger Street around 6:52 p.m. after receiving a call of shots being fired in the area. Officers were then directed by several witnesses to an apartment in the 2600 block of South Bollinger where the suspect was said to have been, according to police reports.

A police report sent out over the weekend said that when officers arrived, they were confronted by Barba who was armed. 

The report went on to sat that officers then fired at Barba.

Barba was transported to Kaweah Delta Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

No officers were injured.
