Love To Boston Run Draws 1300 Participants

Posted:
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

Runners in Boston themed clothing opened their wallets and hit the road to support victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.  It was dubbed Love To Boston Walk/Run.

The Sierra Challenge Express running club organized the event in less than a week.  Aaron Samansky says thirteen hundred people heard the call.  "Anytime there's a call for any type of help they come together and we get donations, we get money, we get support in any way we need."

There were lots of people decked out in Boston threads, even a dog or two.  Of course it wouldn't have a Boston flavor without Sweet Caroline.

There was no registration fee to participate but organizers encouraged runners to donate five dollars to the American Red Cross.

Garrett Sons is a distance runner for Fresno City College.  "This one's a lot different because you're not really running for yourself, you're running for everybody else especially the ones in Boston who were injured or passed away."

Love To Boston was a non–timed run that covered two–point–62 miles.
