Pat Summerall, NFL Broadcasting Legend, Dead at 82


Pat Summerall has died at the age of 82.  Summerall and partner John Madden were the most popular and powerful broadcasting team in the NFL for many years.  Summerall worked 16 Super Bowls, including eight with Madden.  

Summerall worked for CBS sports before moving over to Fox in 1994.  Summerall and Madden called the highest rated sports program of all time, the 1982 game where nearly half of the country was watching.

He also spent ten years as a player in the NFL, mostly as a placekicker.

Summerall also called The Master's Golf Tournament and the US Open Tennis Championship for CBS for several years.

A cause of death has not yet been released.
