Sanger Mayor Joshua Mitchell is fighting back after a critical article about him was published Wednesday in the Fresno Bee, according to KMPH news partner KMJ.
In an exclusive interview on KMJ's morning news, Mitchell denied the Bee's report that he is still under investigation by the fair political practices commission.
He said the commission has cleared him of any wrongdoing and he has the documentation to prove it.
"Every single one has been thrown out. They were all finished," Mitchell said when asked about the investigations that were launched as he made his bid for re-election in 2012.
"This is a witch hunt that keeps going on," Mitchell said. "This is the same reporter that did a hit piece right before the election and he's doing it again."
Mitchell also said he was never contacted by Bee writer Pablo Lopez or the Bee for comment on the article.
"There's a reason he didn't interview me, because I would have given him these responses and he wouldn't have had an article," Mitchell said.
Now Sanger's two-term mayor is considering legal action against the paper and writer Pablo Lopez.
KMJ news said that it reached out to Lopez for comment, but has yet to receive a response.
