A 48-year-old Porterville woman who officers say may have been intoxicated was killed Tuesday after she walked in front of moving car.
The incident happened around 7:37 p.m. on Road 224, just north of State Route 190, the California Highway Patrol said.
The woman, whose name is being withheld pending the notification of her next of kin, exited her car and ran across the roadway in front of the path of a 2005 Toyota Prius traveling at a speed of about 45 miles per hour, the CHP said.
The driver of the car that struck the 48-year-old woman pulled over to the shoulder of the road.
The woman was transported to Sierra View District Hospital where she later died from her injuries.
The woman may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision, CHP said. She was also involved in a two-car collision prior to the fatal accident.
