FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

A Fresno State rodeo bronc rider heads into competition Friday night in Clovis without his most important riding tool — his saddle.

It was stolen last Saturday in Clovis and Uhuru Adem says that he desperately needs it back.

Heading into Friday night's Fresno State Intercollegiate Rodeo in Clovis, Adem is ranked no. 1 in the region in saddle bronc riding.

Art Parham, Adem's coach, said that he has a horse in Friday's competition, but no saddle to ride on.

Adem and a teammate had their saddles and gear stolen along with the truck they left their gear in Saturday night in Clovis.

The season is only half way through and Adem needs his saddle. He is offering a $500 reward for the person who returns it -- no questions asked.

Adem's custom saddle cost about $2,000.

But the transfer student from Feather River College in Quincy, Calif., has a back up plan.

Friends plan to drive down his old saddle.

"We've called some friends that think they might know somebody that has one that size that's close," Parham said. "Whatever he uses [on Friday], it'll be on the fly because he hasn't used that saddle before."

A teammate described Adem as "very humble and will not ask for help himself." So, his teammates are asking for the public's help. They are hoping to raise funds to replace it.

If you have information about the missing saddle and rigging bag contact the Fresno State Police Department's tip line at 664–3204.
