Middle School Students From Coalinga To Lay Wreaths At National Monument

Four local middle school students on Sunday will get the opportunity of a lifetime trip to the nation's capitol to pay homage to those who served the country.

Darian Long, Allison Schwarz, Caleb Johansson and Aaron Ramsey, all from Coalinga Faith Christian Academy, will lay wreaths with the Army Third Infantry at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers in Arlington.

The students will also be given a special tour of the U.S. Capitol by Chris McGlothlin, Coalinga High School graduate currently working as an intern for Republican Congressman Devin Nunes.

The students were selected based on essays either written on what freedom means to them or why they should have been selected to lay a wreath at the national cemetery.

Local war veterans judged the letters and selected the winners.

Special permission was granted to these students by Arlington National Cemetery to lay a wreath and the wreath will bear the school's name.

The students along with other friends, classmates and family members will also visit other historic East Coast monuments.
