Guns Off The Streets: Three Gang Members Arrested

Posted:
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

Three gang members were arrested on Sunday after police found them in possession of several loaded handguns.

Undercover officers with the anti-gang unit MAGEC found Mario Rangel, 22, attempting to hide a stolen, loaded .45-caliber handgun under the right-front passenger seat of a car parked outside of a hotel party being thrown at the Homewood Suites in northeast Fresno.

Fresno firefighters and police officers initially responded to the hotel for a sounding smoke alarm and complaints from people staying at the hotel that the party had gotten out of hand.

Clider Aguilar, a 26-year-old passenger in the car, was found to have a loaded .380-caliber handgun. The driver of the car, 19-year-old Cesar Rendon, was also arrested for knowingly allowing the occupants of his vehicle to be in possession of loaded firearms, police said.

Officers presented a search warrant at Rangel's home where they found a gun holster, ammunition, and a "Use a gun and you're done" campaign poster.

The three were booked into Fresno County Jail for a variety of weapons-related offenses.
