FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
A woman who police say is wanted in connection to the theft of cash and passports from a tourist couple was arrested Thursday after she was caught shoplifting from a hardware store.
Valerie Montanez, 26, was arrested at a northeast Fresno Home Depot.
The arresting officer discovered that Montanez was also wanted for stealing $10,000 in cash and the passports of from an unattended backpack belonging to Ma and Xin Fei
Ming who were visiting America to give birth to their first child.
Montanez's boyfriend, Pedro Salmeron, is also wanted in connection to the thefts. Salmeron is still considered at large, police said
Montanez was booked into the Fresno County Jail for grand
theft.
