MADERA, Calif. (KMPH) -

A Madera man was found guilty of attempted first-degree murder for a March 2012 shooting, the Madera County District Attorney's Office announced Friday.

Carlos Gene Maldonado, 37, was convicted of one felony count of attempted first-degree murder and three additional felony counts of assault with a firearm along with special allegations for personal use of a firearm and great bodily injury, said Madera District Attorney Michael Keitz.

Maldonado and his 35-year-old brother, Timothy, went to a home in Madera to challenge 44-year-old Michael Greer to a fight, according to evidence presented to a Madera jury.

Maldonado then drew a gun on Greer and began to shooting. Greer was shot four times and three other people were wounded.

Maldonado then fled the scene, but was later arrested.

Sentencing for Maldonado scheduled for March 15 in the Madera Superior Court.

Maldonado, who was previously convicted of terrorists threats and assault with a deadly weapon, is facing 59 years to life in state prison.
