Chukchansi Indians Elect New Tribal Government Leaders

Posted:

The Picayune Rancheria of Chukchansi Indians selected new members to its tribal government, the tribe announced Friday.

The new tribal council consists of Nancy Ayala, chairwoman; Jane Wyatt, vice chairwoman; Mona Bragdon, secretary; Mike Ramirez, treasurer; Holly Wyatt, member at large; Anthony Ramirez, member at large; and Amanda Ramirez, member at large.

"Our Tribal government and constitution have been tried and tested over the last few years," Ayala said. "But following the constitutional process has made us stronger. With a new council in place and the strong support of our people, we can now focus on improving the quality of life for our Tribal members and our surrounding community neighbors."

The new tribal council members were elected by a majority vote of lineal descendants of the original distributees of the tribe.
