VISALIA, Calif. (KMPH) -

Three people were arrested on Wednesday in connection to an ambush robbery of a man inside of a Visalia home earlier this month.

Arrested were Richard Ramos, 32, Joseph San Miguel and 21-year-old Ayla Ayala.

The man, whose name has been withheld, entered a home around 11 a.m. in the 1100 block of N. Willis Street on Feb. 4 to buy an air cooler, according to reports.

Police say he was then robbed by the three, who were armed with a handgun and a machete, of his money and tools.

They threatened to kill him and his family if he reported the crime to the police department, said Amy Watkins, spokeswoman for the Visalia Police Department.

The man then drove to the police department and reported the robbery. He was not injured during the crime.

After working on the case, law enforcement officers at 10 a.m. on Wednesday issued a search warrant at the home. The three suspects were taken into custody without incident. Evidence of the crime was located further linking the suspects to the robbery.

Both male suspects were booked the Tulare County Main Jail. The female suspect was booked at the Bob Wiley Detention Facility.
