Man Suffers Burns In Overnight Garage Fire

FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

A man is recovering at a Fresno hospital with burns to nearly a third of his body he suffered in a garget fire early Tuesday morning.

Fresno firefighters responded to heavy smoke coming from a structure at Fancher Creek Apartments, off Peach Avenue and Highway 180 around 12:30 a.m., officials said.

A detached garage that had been converted into a living space was on fire at the complex and one person inside.

Fire crews forced open the garage door and found the 55-year-old man unconscious inside of the garage.

The man was in cardiac arrest, but was successfully resuscitated and taken to Community Regional Medical Center.

He was released this morning and is now convalescing at home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The damage is estimated at $2,000.
