Fresno State has announced a public memorial service for former head football coach Jim Sweeney will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16th. The service will be on Jim Sweeney Field at Bulldog Stadium.
Seating will be on the west side of the stadium. Parking will be in the white lot, and shuttle service will be provided.
Among those scheduled to speak are Trent Dilfer, Dennis Erickson, and Peg and Kevin Sweeney.
Coach Sweeney died last Friday at the age of 83.
He retired as head coach at Fresno State in 1996 after 19 seasons. He earned 144 of his 200 career coaching victories with the Bulldogs.
Sweeney's 1992 Freedom Bowl victory over the USC Trojans ranks as the greatest win in the history of the program.
32 of Sweeney's players at Fresno State were drafted by NFL teams.
